Stay safe

Sharing documents safely

Tax work involves genuinely sensitive information. A few habits protect you from the most common problems:

  • Never send your IRIS password, one-time verification code or banking password — to anyone, through any channel
  • Confirm the channel with your adviser before sending anything sensitive
  • Send documents, not credentials — a return can be prepared without your login
  • Keep a copy of every filing confirmation you receive
  • Note the next deadline as soon as one filing completes
